REEBOK X KOHEI OKITA DROP SECOND INSTALLATION OF 2020 ‘REEBOK EIGHTYONE’ COLLECTION
VAINYL ARCHIVE designer brings distinctive color pallet to Reebok archive through Instapump Fury and unisex apparel range
BOSTON, MASS. – May 4, 2020 — Today, in collaboration with Japanese fashion designer and Vainyl Archive founder Kohei Okita, Reebok unveils the second installation of their 2020 ‘Reebok eightyone’ collection, available beginning May 8 at Reebok.com and select retailers worldwide.
In 2020, more people are dialing the code +81 to call in and out of Japan than ever before. Just like those international calls, more information – filled with new ideas, creations, and concepts - will be transmitted day after day from Tokyo to the world, as the world lays its eyes on the city.
On the heels of the brands’ initial ‘Reebok eightyone’ collection that dropped this past February, this next instalment for SS20 adds Okita’s down-to-earth color palette to two iterations of Reebok’s historic Instapump Fury ($170) and a full range of unisex apparel including: long-sleeve ($70) and short-sleeve T-shirts ($40), soccer T-shirt ($60), and two types of shorts; a jersey short ($50) and nylon short ($60).
In collaboration with Kohei Okita, one of Tokyo’s most creative minds in the fashion scene today, the Reebok eightyone collection was created to introduce the body of work that portrays the city from a bird’s eye view, presented from Japan to the world. Okita brings to Reebok a whole new color palette, material combinations, and silhouettes that had never been available in the brand’s past collections.
“My goal with eightyone was to create a collection that feels different from all the products in Reebok’s large archive, both past and present,” says Okita. The collection reflects the same sensibilities that make VAINL ARCHIVE truly unique, evoking the sense of differentness and disorientation with the combinations of various materials, tones and silhouettes. The items featured in the collection are simple yet highly unique; with the colorways mainly consisting of beige, gray, navy, brown and black, each item is tailored in a three-dimensional way by combining different materials and textures, giving it an unmistakably urban vibe.”
