Rich Froning Jr. Wins 2014 Reebok CrossFit Games for Fourth Straight Year

Carson, Calif. – July 27, 2014 – After four days of tough competition, Rich Froning Jr. and Camille Leblanc-Bazinet have been crowned the Fittest Man and Woman on Earth™ at the 2014 Reebok CrossFit Games.  Competing in the grueling Los Angeles heat, Froning Jr. (US) and Leblanc-Bazinet (Canada) beat the top CrossFit athletes in the world to take the title in front of a sell-out crowd at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

This year was one of the toughest to date with the top of the men’s leaderboard changing six times over the course of the 13 physically demanding events.  Froning Jr. fought off competition from rookie Mathew Fraser (US) who placed second and CrossFit veteran Jason Khalipa (US) who placed third to take the title for the fourth year running.  After competing at the CrossFit Games for the past five years, Leblanc-Bazinet finally took the top spot on the podium with the 2011 and 2012 Reebok CrossFit Games champion Annie Thorisdottir (Iceland) and fan favorite Julie Foucher (US) finishing second and third respectively.

“I went into this year’s CrossFit Games knowing it would be my last year competing as an individual and really wanted to leave it all on the floor”, says Froning Jr. “This year’s events were the toughest yet, and I’m so grateful to my family, fans and Reebok for supporting me throughout.”

“The atmosphere at the 2014 Reebok CrossFit Games was electrifying,” said Chris Froio, Vice President of Fitness and Training at Reebok.  “The athletes were pushed to the absolute limit and it was great to see the fans supporting them all the way.  With events not being announced until the last minute at the CrossFit Games, it is the ultimate test for both the athletes and the equipment they use, which is why at Reebok we ensure our footwear and apparel can match the pace of the athletes.”

Reebok has been title sponsor of the CrossFit Games since 2011 and continues to invest in the sport every year.  This year the global fitness brand increased the prize purse to $1.75m with each of the individual winners receiving $275,000 each.  2014 was also the first year the top 20 male and female athletes took home prize money.

During the course of the weekend, Reebok outfitted every athlete competing with apparel and footwear, including the new Reebok CrossFit Nano 4.0.  The footwear is the ideal performance shoe that combines flexibility, stability and breathability and is designed with the help of CrossFit athletes. The Reebok CrossFit Nano 4.0 is now available through Reebok online at Reebok.com
