Founded in Los Angeles in 2016 by designer and creative director, Jide Osifeso, HYMNE is built on the undercurrent, and the concept of high-quality materials mixed with subversive culture and modern craftsmanship. Launched initially as a design studio, HYMNE would evolve into a full collection by 2019, with Osifeso simultaneously contributing to Reebok creative.
“It really is a full circle moment,” commented Osifeso. “Bringing together two brands that mean a lot to me - it’s a special project.”
The first installment from what will be an ongoing collaboration between Reebok and HYMNE, SS24 aims to land HYMNE’s atypical design language first and foremost.
“For this initial collection, we wanted to do a re-exploration of proportion, specifically, using two of Reebok’s most classic sneaker silhouettes,” explained Osifeso.
HYMNE’s take on Reebok’s Classic Nylon Plus delivers the archival runner with a completely rebuilt upper, utilizing a knit base for the very first time, with extruding molded foam elements that together form a non-conventional, disproportionate shape representative of many HYMNE pieces.
Similarly, HYMNE’s Club C iteration strips down and rebuilds the iconic tennis shoe with a mixed leather and suede upper and the same unique molded foam elements seen on their Classic Nylon Plus.
Further narrating the collection’s theme of rebuilding, campaign content is captured within a home remodeling environment where partially framed walls, exposed insulation, plastic drop cloths, and unfinished stairs carry a message of structural re-creation.
